What is ‘Almost A Met’?

“Almost A Met,” is a weekly newsletter that dives into the long list of players and coaches who almost became New York Mets.

I have been a Mets fan for my whole life and think the MLB Trade Deadline should be a national holiday.

I’m Andrew. When I was younger, I spent years creating teams and expansive trades with hundreds of baseball cards that were sorted into various teams and a whole league. More recently I’ve made dynasties on Baseball Mogul. My favorite chapter of Moneyball is “The Trading Desk.” Now, I want to get into the nitty gritty of the Mets with a newsletter, because I think there are plenty of Mets fans out there who are just as obsessed with the Hot Stove of baseball as I am.

On #MetsTwitter everyone loves to jokingly talk about “Future Mets,” but I thought it would be fun to do some research on the “what ifs” that could have happened and shaped the future of the Mets.

Once a week we’ll cover players you probably remember being linked to the Mets, but also ones you probably didn’t think could have worn the orange and blue. I’m always happy to hear from you.
