Hey everyone!
If you are getting this, you are among the earliest subscribers to “Almost A Met.” I can’t thank you enough for subscribing. It means the world to me.
A little bit about me: My name is Andrew Wyrich. I’m a professional newsletter editor who suddenly has a lot more time on his hands (I’m in media, read into that how you will. You’re probably right). I’ve been mulling writing this newsletter for a long time now, and I’ve finally decided to launch it. I built one national newsletter from the ground floor, so I figured let’s do it again.
I’ve always been obsessed with the MLB hot stove, and frankly I think the trade deadline should be a national holiday. I know there are a lot of people out there like me who can’t help but think “what-if” about their favorite baseball team.
Each newsletter will be a deep-dive on players or coaches or GMs who almost were New York Mets. I’ve been doing a ton of research—old newspaper articles, Wayback Machine links, book chapters I’ve earmarked—and have a few newsletters ready and lined up.
I think you’ll enjoy them. There are some fun names who almost wore the orange and blue. Some will be recent, others will be a nostalgia trip for you.
We will be officially launching soon. But since you are the coolest subscribers ever (seriously, I’ll never forget the early folks like you). I have one quick ask before we begin.
Do you know any Mets fans? Or maybe even baseball fans who are weirdly good at Immaculate Grid like me? Why not forward them this email and ask them to subscribe.
I made it easy for them, all they have to do is subscribe with the button below.
It’s that easy.
Keep an eye on your inboxes soon! #LGM
